Why is there a DPI button on my mouse?
Mouse sensitivity (DPI, CPI) is very important for gamers, it will greatly affect the player’s operation and gaming experience. Usually players will set the DPI to a satisfactory value, so that they can control the game faster and more accurately. It is worth noting that in order to meet the needs of more players and allow players to adjust themselves, many gaming mice have more than one DPI gear, and are equipped with a DPI adjustment button to facilitate quick switching between the DPI gears.
Why disable the DPI button?
Although the DPI button is designed to allow users to have more DPI choices, in some cases, players may accidentally touch the DPI button during intense games to change the DPI, and the sudden change of DPI will catch the player by surprise and switch Go back long enough for the situation to change and the player may lose the game as a result. All in all, if you accidentally touch the DPI button, it won’t have any positive effect and will only interfere with your game or work.
How to disable dpi button on mouse?
Sadly, we can’t physically disable the DPI buttons unless you break or remove the DPI buttons, but this will affect the look and feel of the mouse, so I don’t recommend it. Although it is not possible to disable the mouse DPI button on a physical level, we can disable it by using software, and here are 3 methods to disable the DPI button through software.
1. Disable the DPI button via software
Some mid-to-high-end gaming mice are rich in game functions and support independent drivers to adjust the mouse, such as Logitech, Razer, etc. Here takes the Cool Knight gaming mouse as an example to show how to disable the mouse DPI button through the driver. Before disabling, make sure the mouse is tuned to the DPI value you need.
- Download the official driver and extract it to your computer
- Double click to start the driver
- Find the button set to “DPI Loop” (or “DPI+”, “DPI-“) under Key Settings
- Click “DPI Loop” to change to “Disable”
2. Only enable 1 DPI gear
Enabling only one DPI gear is also a very effective method. There is no other gear to switch, and the mouse will always be at this fixed DPI.
- Download the official driver and extract it to your computer
- Double click to start the driver
- Click on the second DPI Settings icon
- Click on the value behind DPI Stages to change it to 1
3. Set the same DPI value
Setting all DPI gears to the same value can also achieve the same effect. No matter how you click the DPI button to cycle, the DPI of the mouse will always be the same value, which will naturally not affect your game.
- Download the official driver and extract it to your computer
- Double click to start the driver
- Click on the second DPI Settings icon
- Drag or click the DPI bar to set all DPI gears to the same value
Conclusion: We can’t solve the DPI jumping problem very well by physical means, but if your mouse has a separate driver, disabling the DPI button will be very simple. Download the dedicated driver from your mouse manufacturer’s official website. After installing and entering, you can disable or lock the DPI button by disabling the DPI button, opening only one DPI gear, or setting all DPI gears to same values.
